Minutes
of Revive Bombay - Second Meeting
Time: 5:00pm Sunday March 17th, 2002 Athena
NOTE: SEE YOU SUNDAY APRIL 7TH, 5 PM AT LIQUID LOUNGE
Hello everyone,
These are the
minutes of the second meeting of the organization.
We did quite a lot of work at this meeting and missed a lot of
you that weren't able to make it.
There were a lot
more ideas and therefore a lot more opinions flying around but
at the end we did come to a consensus on a variety of things.
Before moving on, a few definitions:
Team Leader - the person who spearheads the project that they
or a fellow member proposed.
Vote: Hand vote
No Votes: The projects that got only a few or no votes continue
to be on
the Table, therefore
will continue being considered until the Author requests it to
be Withdrawn. Due to the absence of some of the Project Proposers, the
projects will be introduced by them and the work they have done,
at the next meeting.
1) Name
There were two options that were put on the table. The City Improvement
Trust, and Revive Bombay. After a hand vote of 17-23, Revive Bombay
is the name of this organization.
2) Structure
There were three options here.
i)Hierarchical - with President (or Chair), Secretary, & Treasurer
ii)Managing Committee
iii) Key person overseeing running
With Hierarchical it follows the typical structure of Pres who
runs the
meetings, Secretary for the Minutes, and Treasurer for keeping
track of the finances.
Managing Committee
follows the form where each Team leader is a member of the Managing
Committee. The Committee then collectively makes the decisions.
Key person overseeing the managing committee By a vast majority,
people wanted to follow a Hierarchical structure. The details
of it will be discussed at the next meeting.
3) Membership
There were two options here. Membership vs No membership.
By a very vocal hand vote, there was a call to have membership
with a membership fee. This would add to the actual running of
the organisation, and its corpus fund.
What was decided
by the majority of people was that we should have amembership
fee, and after a few options that people looked at, everyone felt
that the membership will be Rs 1000. However, this fee will be
for all of you who are present at the founding of this organisation.
That would give all the people who pay this at this time the status
of Founding Member. But everyone did feel that though the majority
of the people present would be able to afford this, future members
might not. Therefore, the question of the membership fee for the
future will be debated in an upcoming meeting.
4) Office space
I am offering my office space, that is, a cabin, a fax and telephone
number for the use of the organisation. If anyone has any reservations,
they can bring them up at the next meeting.
5) Projects
While we tried to categorize projects and have people heading
those
categories, that did not work. We then decided to vote on which
project should be put on a Fast Track by the organization and
which one on a Slow Track. 8 projects got 12 votes and higher
and they were chosen to be Fast Track Projects.
They are:
CLEAN AIR -PUC/TAXIS
TREE PLANTATION
RECYCLING & PROPER WASTE DISPOSAL
HANDICAPPED ACCESS
ROAD SIGNAGE
DUSTBINS
FOOD DRIVES
WALK OF FAME
Each team will
have to find an Advisor. This person will be formally invited
by the organisation to be on the Advisory Board of the organisation.
Their role as an Advisor begins and ceases with the project they
are advising on.
6) SIGN-UP
If you were not present or did not sign up for the project you
are
interested in, PLEASE email the people incharge. The Team Leaders
have already gotten their act together so if you are interested,
please contact them. The information is given below. They need
people to sign up.
7) FUND-RAISING
Furthermore, do not approach any one for fundraising until we
are a fully chartered organisation. This would include getting
permission from the Income Tax Department to be a Charity organization,
so that any contribution to the organization is Tax deductible.
8) WHAT ABOUT
THE OTHER PROJECTS?
The Projects that are a FAST TRACK PROJECT are those that people
consider to have a life of 3-6 months for their initial success.
The others will continue to be a SLOW TRACK PROJECT, and the proposer
will continue working on that project until they feel that the
project can now be a FAST TRACK PROJECT, or that there is no scope,
whereby it can be withdrawn. Each project with over 10 votes is
classified as FAST TRACK. Therefore, if any person who did not
get the required minimum 10 votes can still get a team of TEN
people, they can be a FAST TRACK project.
Congratulations
to those of you who's projects have been chosen! Those that didn't
get the required votes (cos that includes some of mine!), we need
to get more work done either on our own, or with our friends and
bring the proposal back to the organisation when it is READY to
be a FAST TRACK.
