1) ORGANISATIONAL UPDATE
-We've had some technical problems therefore the delay in the minutes.
We apologies for the delay and hope to send out the minutes promptly henceforth.

Pet-a-tree

Bollywood Walk of Fame
NGO AGM
Accessibility for Individual with Disabilities (A.I.D)
CafT Revive
Future of Roads (F.O.R)
Adopt-a-Child & Magic Bus
1) Pet-a-tree:
Team leader : Rishi Tejuja - rishitejuja@utisel.com
We faced a problem as the person we were working with for procurring the bottle palm trees has disappeared. Therefore we were looking out for other people. We have recently found Junaid Merchant, a
well-known landscaper and tree-lover, who will be assisting us on this.
2) Heritage Statues:
Team leader : Hemanth Meka Rao - hemanth@hemanth.net
-Report has been submitted to the Municipal Commissioner for his approval. Waiting to hear back.
3) Bollywood Walk of Fame:
Team leader : Hemanth Meka Rao - hemanth@hemanth.net
-We have extended the Walk of Fame to include a Fountain of the Sea. The fountain will be a 100m spray that overlooks the Walk of Fame. We have already begun doing research to find firms that can manufacture this to our requirements. Once we know how much it will cost, we can look at how to go about funding it.
-Have met with Mr. Jha of MSRDC for his approval of the Bollywood Walk of Fame. He likes the idea a lot!
4) NGO AGM:
Team leader : Hemanth Meka Rao - hemanth@hemanth.net
-After thinking through, we have decided to put the NGO AGM on the back-burner for now. The reason for this we found that until RBT has a firm footing, we would not be taken seriously by various NGO's and governmental agencies. We are however, continuing in making our comprehensive database of NGOs.
5) Accessibility for Individuals with Disabilities (A.I.D):
Team leader : Manish Maker - manish.maker@makers.co.in
-Have divided AID into different sections working on different issues, such as Transport, NGOs, Theatres and Buildings, Legislation & Policy making. Manish will be working on the Legislation front. Sohan will be working on the Transport front.
-Networking with ADAPT and NCPEDP. NCPEDP is very knowledgeable about policy issues.
-Working with ADAPT on Access Audits to see which building are accessible and which are not. Then the Indian Express newspaper will highlight both in their paper.
-Pantaloon and Big Bazaar at Phoenix Mills have put ramps and handrails to make their shops accessible.
6) CafT Revive:
Team leader : Hemanth Meka Rao - hemanth@hemanth.net
-Looking at some places to have our cafT. We have some leads and will keep you posted if we have anything conclusive.
If you have any suggestions, join us or email us at hemanth@hemanth.net.
7) Future of Roads (F.O.R)
Team leader : Hem Tejuja - htejuja@hotmail.com
-We have taken photos of the road outside Bombay Gym, and on Marine Drive. We want to make a database of problem areas and approach the Ward Officers concerned.
-We also want to tie-up with a radio station and with a newspaper (like Midday, Bombay Times, Downtown Plus etc) to help in this effort.
-If there are any road related issues that interest you - be it traffic issues, pedestrian issues, parking issues, road issues - anything? Then come and join this team, cos this is where the Future of Roads is!
8) Adopt-a-Child & Magic Bus
Team leader : Sohan Shah - drsohan@indiatimes.com
- We went to Magic Bus and got an orientation on what they do - from weekly sports activities, to monthly camps etc. An example is a trips to a police station. This allows the child to learn what goes on in a Police station, and the police to see where the child is coming from. Also learn how to act in front of children - such as how to deal with cases, not to
smoke in front of kids, what kind of language to use, which issues to go to and which not to, etc..
-We want to start by volunteering with them in a group and then in the future, we could sponsor a Revive Bombay group of kids.
-Will be making a sponsorship packet for sponsoring the Revive Bombay kids of Magic Bus. So far, the Mahindras and HSBC are the biggest sponsors of Magic Bus.
-Each child will cost Rs.5500/year. The team would like to have 25 children in the long term, however are aiming at 7 children to start with. This will cost them an annual Rs.40,000.
-Revive Bombay will also be helping Magic Bus in getting the permission to use the grounds in Azad Maidan and Dharavi for their activities.
