ABOUT US

The idea of Revive Bombay is very simple, yet hard to comprehend. Revive Bombay is an organisation that wants to improve and add value to the city of Bombay in any way possible. Therefore, it has no focus! It is not one that works only on heritage conservation, or tree plantation, or policy framing etc. Its an organisation that works on anything and everything as long as there is a person who feels strongly about it. It was noticed that each person in this city has a passion. A passion to make a change. The problem is, that no one knows how to make that change.

Yet, each person's passion varies from the next person. While one person feels very strongly about stray dogs, another person feels strongly for heritage conservation, another for trees and greenery, another for city planning, another for policy framing, another for.... and so the list goes on.

Most people want to work on something that affects them - either internally or externally. And 95% of the people are affected by what they see between their home and work commute. The idea is that each person can make a difference. And what the organisation is looking for in the future is not to be a well known NGO working at improving its surroundings. The goal we are searching for is instilling that sense of civic responsibility where each person says "I can make a difference". So that tomorrow if someone sees something that is wrong, all they have to do is say I want to change this, get agroup of 5-10 people together in a team, and address the issue.

The other idea that runs this organisation is that everyone today knows someone. Be it a student, a businessman or a politician or a house-wife. Everyone knows someone that can help this city in some capacity. And today's youngsters are very resourceful and full of ideas and the right sense of networking. What is the use of all this networking if we cannot put it to good use? Therefore, using the strengths of the organisation - that is, its members - the idea is that everyone can join this organisation to make a difference and we can collectively use the each other's networks to ensure that a positive change is made.
So what we welcome are people with a passion - with a passion to MAKE A DIFFERENCE. We don't want talkers. We want doer's! We want people who will pick up the phone and call that uncle of theirs who is in a position to help that change, or that colleague who can further their cause, and people who will go and make sure things get done.
